Dr. Billy Allen, a native Athenian, graduated from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1969 with a DDS degree and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. After three years in the U.S. Air Force he returned to Emory, earning a Certificate of Orthodontics in 1974. He then opened his practice in Athens.

In 2002 Dr. Allen and Dr. Waugh merged their offices. One of the benefits of the merger was Dr. Allen introducing to Dr. Waugh the Damon System of orthodontics, the fastest-growing orthodontic system in the world. Dr. Allen was one of its earliest users and a personal friend of Dr. Dwight Damon, its inventor. Dr. Waugh attests to its faster treatment, fewer visits, and reduced need for extracting teeth and placing palatal expanders, compared to his former system.

While Dr. Allen is retired, he might occasionally be seen in a Waugh & Allen office, so thank him for the service he has provided for going on 40 years and for bringing the Damon System to Georgia!
